Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Obrillia is an adaptive learning application operated by KaizenLabs Online (KaizenLabs Pty Ltd). This policy explains what information the app handles and how we protect it.

2. Our privacy-first approach

Obrillia is designed to work locally in your browser. We collect only what is necessary to provide the learning experience. Child personal details are not required to use Junior mode. By default child answers stay in the browser; parent-enabled AI feedback or provider routes may send checked prompts or answers to the configured provider.

3. Information stored on your device

Depending on how you use Obrillia, the app may store the following locally:

• Learning progress, mastery records, and quiz results (when enabled)
• Parent settings and privacy preferences
• Generated classrooms, stories, and uploaded book files you choose to keep
• Theme and display preferences

Most learner data stays in your browser unless you export it or clear site data. PDF parsing and optional provider features may send selected content through Obrillia server routes. We do not operate a mandatory cloud account for learners.

4. Children's privacy and protections

Obrillia includes features for children aged 5 to 14. Parents or guardians should supervise use and configure privacy controls in Settings and the Parent dashboard. Optional cloud AI features require explicit parent consent and are blocked by default for Junior surfaces.

We adhere to strict child privacy principles aligned with the Australian Privacy Principles, COPPA, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code:

• We never sell child personal data or learning records.
• We never display third-party behavioural advertisements or track across apps.
• We never use child answers or voices to train general public AI models.
• Parents retain complete ownership and can export or erase learner records.

5. Data retention schedule and international transfers

Our application infrastructure is hosted in Oregon, United States. When you use online features or sync, your data may be processed in that jurisdiction under strict contractual safeguards.

We maintain clear retention boundaries:

• Child learning data: Retained in your device storage or encrypted family repository until you request erasure or clear your local browser data.
• Financial and billing records: Adult subscription and payment invoices are retained for statutory financial and tax reporting periods (up to seven years), kept strictly separate from child learning data.
• Ephemeral audio and voice recordings: Processed only for the duration of the active turn and deleted immediately; never retained in cloud storage without explicit consent.

6. Third-party services

If you connect an AI, speech, image, or search provider, requests are sent only according to your settings. You are responsible for reviewing the privacy terms of any provider you connect. Obrillia does not sell personal data.

7. Analytics and cookies

Obrillia does not use third-party advertising trackers. Essential browser storage (localStorage, IndexedDB, and similar) is used so the app can remember your preferences and progress on this device. 8. Your rights: access, export, and erasure

As a parent or adult account holder, you have the right to:

• Access and review all data stored about your family.
• Export your data in open formats using in-app export tools.
• Request immediate complete erasure of your child's learning profiles.
• Withdraw optional cloud consent at any time in Settings.

9. Security

We apply reasonable technical measures to protect data handled by the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure; please keep devices and browsers up to date.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of Obrillia after changes means you accept the revised policy.
